Dr Phil on spoiling your children

Whatever you think of American celebrity Psychologist Dr Phil. His influence and popularity cannot be denied.I am personally a fan because of his no nonsense attitude and zero tolerance for bullshit and sugar coating.

This week he has posted a matter of fact article on the consequences of spoiling your children.

Over-indulgence, Dr. Phil explains, is one of the most insidious forms of child abuse.

I love what he says about guilt;

Don’t let your guilt get in the way of your parenting. Your job as a parent is not to make yourself feel good by giving the child everything that makes you feel good when you give it.

You don’t want to teach your child that they will get everything through manipulation, pouting, crying, door slamming and guilt induction
